Modern School Management Mobile Application
A modern and user-friendly mobile application developed to streamline school operations, student schedules, and daily academic activities. The app allows students and teachers to manage classes, view timetables, check announcements, and stay updated with important academic information.

Project Overview
The Modern School Management Mobile Application is a user-friendly platform designed to simplify daily academic operations for students, teachers, and school administrators. The app centralizes important activities such as class schedules, announcements, attendance, assignments, and communication — making school management smooth, accessible, and efficient.
The client is a K-12 school with 1,200 students, 80 teachers, and a paper-based administrative system that was falling apart. Timetable changes were announced via notice boards (which students ignored), homework was assigned verbally (which parents couldn't track), attendance was taken on paper registers (which took 10 minutes per class), and parent-teacher communication happened through handwritten diary notes (which frequently got lost).
We built a Flutter cross-platform app (iOS + Android) with a Django REST backend, MongoDB for flexible data storage (school data is highly hierarchical — school → branches → classes → sections → students), Firebase for push notifications and real-time updates, and Twilio for SMS alerts to parents who haven't installed the app.
With a clean interface, intuitive navigation, and mobile-first design, the application ensures users can stay updated with academic information, manage their routines, and engage with school activities anytime, anywhere. The app was adopted by 85% of parents within the first month of launch.
The Challenges
The problem we faced.
Announcements were shared via paper slips or WhatsApp groups (with 300+ members), leading to missed or delayed information — important notices about exam schedule changes reached parents after the exam had already happened.
Students and teachers had no centralized place to manage schedules, classes, or homework — teachers maintained their own personal records, and students relied on classmates to know what was assigned.
Students couldn't quickly check class timings or updated schedules, causing confusion — when a substitute teacher was assigned or a room was changed, the only notification was a handwritten note on the notice board.
Teachers relied on paper-based attendance systems that were difficult to maintain, took 10 minutes per class period, were prone to errors and manipulation, and made it impossible to generate attendance analytics for the school management.
Parent-teacher communication was limited to annual PTM meetings and diary notes — parents had no real-time visibility into their child's attendance, homework completion, or academic performance.
The school had no digital record of historical academic data — past timetables, attendance records, and assignment submissions were stored in physical files that were difficult to retrieve and impossible to analyze.
The Solutions
What we built instead.
A student dashboard with daily schedules showing class-by-class timetable with room numbers and teacher names, assignment summaries with due dates and submission status, upcoming exam schedule, and quick access to resources like study materials and past papers.
Timetable & class management with real-time schedule updates that push notifications for any changes, teacher-specific schedules with substitute management, room allocation visibility, and academic calendar integration for holidays and events.
An announcement & notification center for school-wide announcements with read receipts, class-specific notices, important reminders with priority levels, push notifications for urgent updates, and an archive of all past announcements searchable by date and category.
Digital attendance system with one-tap marking (present/absent/late) per student, automatic parent notification for absences via push notification and SMS fallback, monthly attendance reports for management, and leave application workflow for students.
A parent portal with real-time visibility into their child's attendance, homework assignments, grades, teacher feedback, and school announcements — with the option to message teachers directly for queries and a progress tracking dashboard showing academic trends over time.
Teacher tools for class management including digital attendance marking (saving 10 minutes per class), assignment posting with file attachments, grade entry with auto-calculated averages, progress report generation, and a communication channel for parent queries — all from a mobile-friendly interface.
