App development cost in India for a professionally built app starts around $5,000–$15,000 for an MVP on Android and iOS, $15,000–$35,000 for a full-featured app with payments and notifications, and above $35,000 for complex platforms with several user types and real-time features. Those are our published ranges; the exact figure depends on features, platforms and integrations.
Ask five agencies what an app costs and you'll hear five very different numbers, because "an app" can mean anything from a simple booking tool to a two-sided marketplace. This guide explains what you actually get at each price level and what pushes a project up or down the range.
App development cost in India by app size
These are the bands on our pricing page, as of 2026:
| App size | Typical scope | Price range |
|---|---|---|
| Simple (MVP) | Sign-up, one core feature, admin panel, Android and iOS | $5,000 – $15,000 |
| Standard | Payments, push notifications, chat or maps, full backend | $15,000 – $35,000 |
| Complex | Customer, partner and admin apps, real-time features, scale | Above $35,000 |
A cross-platform app built with Flutter or React Native covers both Android and iOS from one codebase, which is why these ranges include both stores. Building two separate native apps costs noticeably more.
What pushes the price up or down
- Number of screens and features. Every flow — onboarding, search, checkout, profile, settings — needs design, development and testing.
- User types. A single customer app is simpler than a marketplace with customers, sellers and an admin, each with their own app or panel.
- Backend and admin panel. Almost every app needs a server, database and an admin panel to manage content, users and orders.
- Integrations. Payment gateways, maps, SMS and WhatsApp, shipping partners and your existing ERP or CRM each add work.
- Real-time features. Live tracking, chat and instant notifications need extra infrastructure and testing.
- Design depth. Custom illustrations, animations and a full design system cost more than a clean, standard interface.
Native vs cross-platform: how it affects cost
| Approach | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-platform (Flutter, React Native) | Lower — one codebase for both stores | Most business and consumer apps |
| Native Android and iOS | Higher — two codebases | Apps that depend on device hardware or platform-specific features |
| Progressive web app | Lowest | Simple tools where store presence doesn't matter |
For most businesses, cross-platform is the sensible default. We've built community and society-management apps in Flutter and a car marketplace in React Native, and our Flutter developers page explains when Flutter is the right choice.

How long app development takes
An MVP usually takes 8–12 weeks from agreed scope to store release. A full-featured app typically takes 3–5 months. Store review adds a few days for Google Play and can take longer for the Apple App Store, especially the first time, so build that into your launch date.
Costs after launch
The development price isn't the whole budget. Plan for:
- Apple Developer account fees and the one-time Google Play registration fee
- Server hosting, which grows with your user numbers
- Paid services such as maps, SMS, WhatsApp messages and email
- Maintenance for OS updates, store policy changes and bug fixes — our published maintenance plans start at $500–$1,500 a month
- New features based on what users ask for after launch
How to reduce app development cost
- Launch an MVP with the one feature that proves the idea, then add features based on real usage.
- Use cross-platform development unless you have a specific reason not to.
- Reuse proven services for login, payments and notifications instead of building them from scratch.
- Get designs approved before development starts; changes after coding are the most expensive kind.
- Ask for a fixed price per phase with a written scope.
